This list was extremely time consuming to put together as I  wanted to include:

  • The best SEO tools,
  • Updated pricing & feature list for each tool
  • Free tools & paid SEO tools
  • Screen shot photos of each tool or software
  • And a personal summary of what value the tool brings

As such I want to provide this disclaimer:

Full Disclaimer: Many of the SEO tools & resources listed below include my affiliate link.  Which means,  I’ll earn a commission (though there is no extra cost to you – in many cases it will cheaper for you as my coupon code is included in the link), if you buy a product from the list that is a “paid tool”. I want to be very clear that I have included free tools in this list in addition to the paid tools and recommendations for the best combinations of tools so as to help you minimize your costs and redundancies of multiple tool features.  If you do choose to use my link, thank you!

John Shea - July 7, 2016

Crazy list you put together here! Lots of sources I had never heard of. Surprised you didn’t add Evernote for task management. We also use Teamwork here at our agency and I love using Nozbe for personal to-do lists.

    dynamik365 - July 17, 2016

Hey John, those are all great tools for sure. In fact I haven’t heard of Nozbe. Will check that out and see if we can get one of those in there. For sure Evernote belongs!

    Dino Gomez - August 8, 2016

Hey John, will have to take a look at Teamwork Nozbe. Will see about including those on an updated revision. Good mention!

      John Shea - August 8, 2016

Awesome thanks! I also sent you an email, curious if you got it?

George Coem - July 12, 2016

We still heavily depend on Google tools. I’m using few paid SEO tools on top of Google Planner for example. For a long time I’ve been using SEMrush’s cheapest (or should I say least expensive) plan and then switched to other similar tools so many times I can’t keep track of them. Heard SERPStat and SpyFu are good. Are they worth paying for?

    dynamik365 - July 17, 2016

Yeah SEMrush is expensive but incredible. I use it all the time. SpyFu is also good. Really depends what kind of SEO you’re doing and where you are at with # of clients… revenue… Take a look at this post George. It reveals all:

    Dino Gomez - August 8, 2016

Hey George, you simply can’t go wrong with SEM Rush. The competitor and keyword data there is killer. Although it does come with that price tag… The best tool for you really depends if you’re a content marketer, consultant, or agency and what services you provide + your ideal strategies for driving traffic. Different tools and combinations of tools are best depending on the situation.

John Shea - July 31, 2016

Hey Dino, I just sent you an email. Let me know what you think!

Dale - October 5, 2016

Great list Dino,

Since you seem to be an expert when it comes to tools, mind taking a look at a free keyword research tool I just created?

It’s the only one that I know of that extract keywords straight from Reddit (based on an inputted subreddit).

It’s called “Keyworddit” (just add ‘.com’ after).

    Dino Gomez - October 6, 2016

    Absolutely Dale. Sounds neat.

Nathan - December 5, 2017

Bitrix24 should be on the list. Totally free, gives you quotes, invoicing, time tracking, task and project management, and even CRM. Doesn’t do anything SEO but great for the business side of running an agency.

    Dino Gomez - December 5, 2017

Will have a look at this Nathan. Thanks for alerting me.
